Five St. Mary’s Dominican High School students were among 53 students from 17 participating public, private and parochial schoolsin the New Orleans area that received scholarships from the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation (NOHHF) at ceremonies honoring NOHHF 2017 scholars.

Ursuline seventh grader Grace Gorman, for winning the DN Orthodontics “Making a Difference” essay and movie contest. During Catholic Schools Week, all seventh-grade students were asked to produce a movie or write an essay explaining how they can make a difference in their community.

St. Mary’s Dominican High School seniors and their mothers celebrated upcoming graduation at the annual Mother Daughter Tea held May 13 on campus. Hosted by the school’s Alumnae Association, the gathering had more than 250 enjoying afternoon tea in the school courtyard while listenring to “ One Lan Band,” featuring a Dominican’s student trio.

2017 Alumna of the Year Donna Martiny Clement ’76 pins Kayla Small as a Chapelle alumna. Archbishop Chapelle High School held an Alumnae Induction Ceremony  April 27 to induct the Class of 2017 into the Chapelle alumnae family.

Seniors Aysia Wade, Bailey Barnes, Deja Hansell, Trinity Velazquez and Sara Hurst of Gretna view rare books within the Louisiana Law Library’s collection. Academy of Our Lady’s Law & Civil Leadership Internship Class visited the Louisiana Supreme Court on multiple occasions this school year.

Capt. Alfortish presented student Madison Vise with her U.S. Naval Academy appointment. She also received the Pat Taylor Athlete award from Ursuline High School principal Alice Bairnsfather. Ursuline Academy senior Madison Vise was recognized at a May 2 awards ceremony for her official appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Quarter per Quarter:  Academy of Our Lady’s social studies honor society, Rho Kappa, began their Quarter per Quarter initiative at the beginning of the school year to help raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.
