Madere was newly sober and had been living for two months at Grace House, a long-term residential treatment center for women who are struggling with drug or alcohol abuse.

In ceremonies at St. Joseph Church in New Orleans on March 10 and Most Holy Trinity Church in Covington on March 11, Archbishop Gregory Aymond welcomed 331 men, women and children who will enter into full communion with the Catholic church at the Easter Vigil. “This is a joyous day,” Archbishop Aymond told the catechumens (those who have not yet been baptized) and candidates (those who have been baptized).
