Students in Academy of Our Lady’s Law Studies class traveled to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office recently and observed two courtrooms. In addition, the students experienced what is was like to be in court on motion day and met individuals within the law field who imparted great wisdom and advice. Law Studies, taught by an attorney, is among the elective courses offered at Academy of Our Lady.

The St. Scholastica dance team, the Royalettes, placed first for home routine junior varsity for its jazz routine for “Invincible,” won a superior trophy, blue ribbons on all routines learned at camp and had five team members – Julia Baker, Sophie Breyel, Clare Roth, Ava Szczepanski and Allie Vogt – named All Americans at the UDA Masters Camp held June 2-5 at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans.. The team also received a bid to compete at the National Dance Team Championship in February 2020.

St. Mary’s Dominican High School honored spring student athletes with the 2018-2019 Lou Reilly Memorial Awards for continually try to improve their skills and who have listened to their coaches and teammates. The society encourages participation in and recognition of scientific and intellectual thought to advance the students’ knowledge of classical and modern sciences, to communicate with the scientific community, to aid the civic community with its comprehension of science, and to encourage students to participate in community service and, in turn, encourage a dedication to the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all mankind.

Academy of Our Lady’s bowling team was undefeated with a 4 and 0 record defeating Mount Carmel Academy, Crescent City Christian School, Albany High School and Salmen High School after a third of its season competing in the Louisiana Invitational Baker Tournament held in Baton Rouge The team took on nine of the top schools in the state in a seven game match which led to the girls winning the tournament.

Jack Piwko, an honors’ junior at Archbishop Rummel High School, has been selected to attend the three-week Franklin & Marshall College Prep Immersion Program in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, this summer. It is open to rising high-school seniors and offers the college experience of being taught by F&M professors, living in the dorm and eating in the dining halls.
