Archbishop Gregory Aymond will be the principal celebrant of the All Saints’ Day Mass Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 3368 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans, followed by blessing of the graves across the street at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, 3421 Esplanade Ave.

On Nov. 1 each year, we celebrate the Feast of All Saints. While it is true that each saint has a day designated to him or her, the Church asks us on Nov. 1 to remember all the saints and to ask for their prayers for us.

Ever since Hurricane Ida in 2021, when historic St. Augustine Church in Treme had its roof ripped off and its 1840s-era crucifix bent at half-staff, parishioners and visitors have worshiped in a tiny parish hall, adjacent to the church, which seats 130 people.

Christian Brother Gale Condit is 82 now, and his life as a lion tamer turned Catholic school educator has blessed him with a deep reservoir of wisdom, prudence and humor that can be built only by daily rubbing elbows with teenage boys and girls who sometimes don’t know which end is up or whom to trust.
