Dear Priests, Deacons, Religious, Laity and Staff of the Archdiocese of New Orleans:
I and a small group of Archdiocesan staff will attend the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis (July 17-21). We are aware that some parishes and small groups are also making plans to attend, which is encouraged. If there is any interest in your parishes in attending the Congress, I would strongly recommend that you look into it as soon as possible. There is a NASCAR race that same weekend in Indianapolis, and accommodations are becoming scarce. If you have any questions about the Congress, you can direct them to Chris O’Neill in the Office of Marriage and Family Life.
We are working to organize a gathering at the National Eucharistic Congress for people from the Archdiocese of New Orleans who may be in attendance. If you are organizing a group, or know of any groups who plan to attend, please let the Office of Marriage and Family Life ([email protected]) know so that we can extend an invitation.
Finally, I would also like to encourage you to actively participate in the National Eucharistic Revival in your own way, locally, by organizing your own events in your parishes. Special times of adoration, local eucharistic processions and other gatherings and events that are appropriate and within your means are encouraged. We have been assured that at least some of the National Eucharistic Congress will be live-streamed for those who cannot be present; you may wish to consider using this as an opportunity to experience the Congress together in your parish community. The National Eucharistic Revival is an opportunity to strengthen the faith of our people. Please prayerfully consider how best to use this extraordinary time.
Thank you for your collaboration and pastoral ministry to God’s people in New Orleans. Be assured of my continued prayers. Wishing you God’s blessings, I am
Sincerely in Christ,
Most Rev. Gregory M. Aymond
Archbishop of New Orleans
