CABRINI HIGH SCHOOL, Yvonne Hrapmann ’76, principal of her alma mater, was honored at the 2022 Cabrini Mission Foundation’s Education of the Heart Gala at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. Hrapmann received the Angel Award, which recognizes individuals who represent St. Frances Xavier Cabrini’s philosophy of educating the heart and mind. “Throughout her 42-year career, Yvonne has carried on the legacy of Mother Cabrini, delivering education of the heart and mind,” said Christopher LaBianco of the Cabrini Mission Foundation. He continued, “Yvonne grew up in the neighborhood, attended Cabrini High School, and knew the sisters well. She utilizes her faith-based Cabrini education and carries it forward through the generations of young women who have attended Cabrini High School.” Hrapmann began her career as a Cabrini teacher and coach in 1981. Her path to the principalship included serving as athletic director, dean and assistant principal for student affairs and academic assistant principal. “I have been blessed abundantly to be a part of the Cabrini community,” Hrapmann said.
LOYOLA UNIVERSITY NEW ORLEANS, student newspaper, the Maroon, was named by the Society of Professional Journalists as the nation’s Best All-Around Student Newspaper among small college newspapers. The Maroon also is vying for another Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press, known in media circles as “the Pulitzer Prize of College Journalism.”
“To get this level of recognition from both the Society of Professional Journalists and the Associated Collegiate Press is heartwarming – being recognized both by the professional media and the people who specialize in college media,” said Mike Giusti, ’00, M.B.A. ’12, chair of the Journalism Department at Loyola University.
