Fruits continue to multiply from the Holy Spirit novena

Deacon Ricky Suprean is “excited about what God has in store for us this year” at the 2023 Holy Spirit Novena and Revival, “Come Holy Spirit and Renew the Face of the Earth,” hosted by St. John of the Cross Church in Lacombe May 19-27.
“Never has there been so much enthusiasm in anticipation of this powerful event,” said Deacon Suprean, who serves at St. John of the Cross.
The novena is now in its 10th year at a Catholic church in Lacombe. It was held for seven years at St. John of the Cross and for three years at Sacred Heart. Prior to that, the novena was held for three decades at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Mandeville.
Deacon Suprean said the Holy Spirit “is encouraging us to come together to plead, ‘Come Holy Spirit, and renew the face of the earth,’ and really mean it. The Holy Spirit is calling for an outpouring of people committed to surrendering themselves to the divine will of God, and, in the process, help lead the world back to God.”
Different speakers and entertainment will be featured nightly, beginning with praise and worship and confession at 6:30 p.m., followed by Mass at 7 p.m.
➤ May 19: Father Sidney Speaks, pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Marrero, will be the celebrant and homilist, with music by Jamie Diliberto and Tongues of Fire. A coffee shop follows Mass.
➤ May 20: Father Gil Martin, retired pastor of St. John of the Cross, will be celebrant and homilist, with music by Donna Guidry and the Sacred Heart Choir.
➤ May 21: Oblate Father Tony Rigoli, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe in New Orleans, will be celebrant and homilist, with music by Steve Lee and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Choir.
➤ May 22: Father Thomas Kilasara, pastor of Sacred Heart in Lacombe, will celebrate the Mass, and Deacon Suprean will deliver the homily, with music by Linden Uter.
➤ May 23: Father Daniel Dashner, parochial vicar of Most Holy Trinity in Covington, will be the celebrant and homilist, with music by Audrie and Emma St. Cyr.
➤ May 24: Father Mark Beard, pastor of St. Helena Church in Amite, will be the celebrant and homilist, with music by Colin McIver.
➤ May 25: Archbishop Gregory Aymond will be the celebrant and homilist, with music by John Finch.
➤ May 26: Father Anthony Odiong, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua in Luling, will be the celebrant and homilist at the healing Mass, with music by Bauer, Brewer, Rhodes, St. Cyr & Schneidau.
➤ May 27: Father Tuan Pham, St. John of the Cross pastor, will be the celebrant and homilist, with music by Vince Vicidomina and the SJC Choir.
