The end of the school year is quickly approaching, and I am sure you are looking forward to some relaxation and fun during the summer months. But do not forget that school has not yet ended. We still have a little bit of time in which you will continue to give of yourself in study and in contributing to the spirit of your school.
As you prepare for the summer vacation, may I encourage you first of all to remember that it is a vacation from school, not “a vacation from God” or a vacation from your faith during the summer months. Do not forget to pray each day, and continue to develop your special, personal relationship with the Lord Jesus as your brother and as your friend.
With a different schedule, it is possible that you can put aside prayer and your relationship with God, but make sure that you allow Jesus to walk with you during your summer vacation.
Also, remember that during vacation, we are still called to celebrate Mass on Sunday with our families and with other members of the community.
For those who are moving on from one school to the next, be sure to reflect on your years at your present school and to give thanks to God, your classmates and your teachers for all that they have done to encourage you in faith and to help you become a good student. As you look toward a new school, know that God is with you in this time of transition, and he will lead you and guide you because he loves you with a very personal love.
Have a great summer vacation! May God be a part of all that you do.
Wishing you God’s blessings, I am a brother in Christ,
