I love Christmas! Who doesn’t? As the song says, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.”
But what exactly makes it so wonderful? Is it the deliciously decorated gingerbread houses, fun parties and presents? If all of these things were missing, could we still have a great Christmas?
YES! While all of those Christmas traditions are wonderful, what makes Christmas truly AMAZING is that Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, was born.
Truly, there can be no greater gift than the peace and inspiration that fills our hearts when we keep Christ in Christmas. One of the greatest ways to do this is to simply remember the Christmas story and why we celebrate Christmas.
I am inspired when I think about Mary’s unbelievable trust in God as she said “yes” to him. I think about the courage and faith that Mary and Joseph had along their journey to Bethlehem, and the humility and grace with which Mary brought our Lord, Jesus, into this world.
In our own lives, when things feel uncertain or worrisome, especially at Christmas, we can think about Mary and Joseph and be inspired to have faith and follow the will of God. I also think of the awesome promise that God fulfilled when he sent us his Son, Jesus, to show us how to live and love each other. We can all be inspired that we have a God who loves us this much.
Our true confidence, joy and hope is, and always will be, found in Jesus. When we remember Jesus, the Christmas story and why we truly celebrate Christmas, we are “Keeping Christ in Christmas.” Only then can it truly be the “most wonderful time of the year.”
So, now it is up to you to keep Christ in Christmas!
